Public Health Offers Low-Cost & Free Flu Shot Opportunities

Bakersfield, CA – The Kern County Public Health Services Department encourages residents to get their flu vaccine annually. The flu vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu. The flu can be a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death.  “Tragically, last flu season we lost two of our community members due to influenza” says Matt Constantine, Director of Kern County Public Health Services. “We urge residents to protect themselves and their loved ones by getting their annual flu shot.”

Residents can take advantage of the following opportunities to receive a flu shot:

Routine Public Health Clinic

  • Public Health Services Building, 1800 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Bakersfield - Monday through Friday 8am-11am and 1pm-3pm either by appointment or walk-in.  $9.00 per shot.

Seasonal Flu Clinics – Outlying Areas

  • Rosamond:  Rosamond Library, 3611 Rosamond Blvd – 10/9/2018, 10am-12pm & 1pm3pm
  • Pine Mountain Club: 2524 Beechwood Way – 10/10/2018, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm 
  • Arvin:  Arvin Library, 201 Campus Drive – 10/16/2018, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm 
  • Lake Isabella:  7050 Lake Isabella Blvd, Suite 144 – 10/17/2018, 10am-12pm & 1pm3pm 
  • Ridgecrest:  400 N. China Lake Blvd - 10/23/18, 10:30am – 12pm & 1pm-2:30pm 
  • Taft:  Public Health Office, 915 N 10th Street – 10/25/18, 1:30pm – 3:30pm 
  • Delano:  Public Health Office, 455 Lexington Street - Every Wednesday beginning 10/3/2018, 9am-11am & 2pm-4pm 
  • Shafter:  Public Health Office, 329 Central Valley Hwy – Every Wednesday beginning 10/3/2018, 1pm-3:30pm $9.00 per shot.

No Charge Clinics  

  • Kern County Fairgrounds Swap Meet, 1142 S P Street, Bakersfield - 10/14/2018, 7am12pm. 
  • Hosking Swap Meet, 1000 E. Hosking Avenue, Bakersfield – 10/19/2018, 5pm-9pm Free flu shots offered on a first-come, first serve basis – doses are limited – sponsored by Kern Health Systems
