WELL PERMIT SITE PLAN REQUIREMENTS

 

The site plan drawing should include:

• Written directions to the proposed site

• North direction arrow

• Property line locations

• Distances from property lines to the proposed well

• Location of any easements

• Location of any other well on the property

• Separation distance (setback) of the proposed well site from septic tanks, leach fields (including future replacement leach fields), seepage pits, storm drains, and sewer lines, both existing and proposed, on the project parcel and on adjacent parcels

• Footprint and dimensions of all buildings, including outbuildings, both existing and proposed

• Locations of creeks, ponds and drainage areas

• Topographic features such as slopes and swales

• The site plan should be drawn to a scale of 1” = 20’, or the largest practical scale. The proposed well site must be clearly flagged, or staked, until actual drilling begins.

 

Before approving an application for a permit to drill a well, the Environmental Health Specialist will use the site plan, in conjunction with a site visit, to confirm that the proposed well will be free of influence from potential contamination sources, that it will not be impacted by flood or drainage problems, that it will continue to be accessible for maintenance in the future, and that it will not impinge on the required set-asides for future leach field replacement on either the project parcel or adjacent parcels.
